Do not spit or rinse your mouth repeatedly as this encourages bleeding. Plan nothing for about 3 days after gum graft surgery. After the gum graft i was given a plastic mouthpiece that sits against the roof of my mouth protecting the donor site. Some swelling may be present the day after the surgery and may peak at 48 72 hours after surgery.

Well it still continues. Eat a bunch of liquid meals throughout the day. Sip ice water iced tea frozen yogurt milkshakes or similar cold liquids and keep the surgical area cold for the remainder of the day after surgery. Patients that have or receive dentures on the day of surgery should not use any form of denture adhesive until gum tissue is completely healed.

I took it easy today and just rested. Also if you are in pain you may need to take a stronger pain killer like vicodin. Things like yogurt smoothies pudding and even ice cream for a treat. Additionally as a result of the anesthesia patients often maintain a feeling of nausea for at least a few hours after the procedure ends.

I had my 2 week checkup the other day and the dentist said everything is healing amazingly well. You ll eat less and therefore may feel weak.
